Petroleum Products

Gas Oil

• Gas oil is a fuel that is cheaper than normal road diesel. Gas oil should never be used in any vehicles on public roads.

• It is the exact same as regular 'white' diesel except it is minimally taxed meaning it's cheaper for the end-user and it is dyed red. So, it is named as ‘Red diesel’.

Naphtha Oil

• Naphtha is created by distilling petroleum, and it's a component of gasoline and kerosene. It is a flammable liquid hydrocarbon mixture.

• Mixtures labelled naphtha have been produced from natural gas condensates, petroleum distillates, and the distillation of coal tar and peat.

Fuel Oil

• Fuel oil, also called furnace oil is the fuel consisting residues from crude-oil distillation. It includes distillates (the lighter fractions) and residues (the heavier fractions). It consists of long-chain hydrocarbons, particularly alkanes, cycloalkanes, and aromatics.

• It is often used as a backup fuel for peaking power plants in case the supply of natural gas is interrupted or as the main fuel for small electrical generators.

Crude Oil

• Crude oil implies a mixture of hydrocarbons that exists in liquid phase in natural underground reservoirs and remains liquid at atmospheric pressure after passing through surface separating facilities.

• It is refined to deliver a wide exhibit of oil-based commodities, including heating oils; gasoline, diesel and jet fuels; lubricants; asphalt; ethane, propane, and butane; and many other products used.

Lubricating Oils

Lubricating oils are a product of the crude oil refining process. The various Properties required of the oil are obtained as a result of blending and the introduction of additives.

• Gear Oils and Greases

In gear lubrication the oil separates metal surfaces, reducing friction and wear.

• Petroleum Waxes

These products are employed in paper manufacture and food stuffs.

• Naphthas

Highly purified naphthas are used for solvents in paints, cosmetics, commercial dry cleaning.

Petro Chemicals

Petro Chemicals are derived from a starting material obtained from petroleum. They are virtually identical to the same chemical produced from other sources, such as coal, coke, or fermentation processes.

  • • Olefins As a by-product of Thermal Cracking process, gases were produced that included a significant proportion of lower-molecular-weight olefins are produced.

Aromatics

The aromatic compounds produced in the catalytic reforming of naphtha are major sources of petrochemical products.

Polymers

  • A highly significant proportion of these basic petrochemicals is converted into plastics, synthetic rubbers, and synthetic fibres. Together these materials are known as polymers.
